Let me first congratulate you on expecting! What an exciting time and a great adventure you are about to embark on. One of the first decisions you will have to make is about the crib bedding. With so many options it is easy to become overwhelmed by the amount of choices to choose from. The first thing you need to decide is if you plan on reusing the bedding for any other children you may decide to have later on. If you plan on reusing the bedding you may want to go with a nuetral color palet and design. Something that will work with both boys and girls. Next you are going to want to look for something that is durable. Even if you don’t want to reuse the bedding you never know if your child will make the bedding his or her favorite blanket. Plus babies tend to go through a few crib sheets in the night so you are going to want something that will last wash after wash after wash. You are also going to want something that is going to be soft to the touch as well because some babies may have a sensitivity to touch. Finally, the fun part, you are going to want to look at the design. Is the design something that will go with the rest of the house? Is it something that you will feel comfortable with doing an entire room around? After all once you decide on the design of the bedding the decor of the rest of the room usually takes off from there. You don’t have to spend a fortune on the bedding to have a nice nursery either because in the end just having a safe environment for your new bundle of joy is what matters most.

You’ve got a lot to think about when you’re expecting and it seems like everything’s more expensive than you thought. When you’re done looking up home security system pricing and starting a college fund you’ve got to think about beddinghere are a few items you can save on:
Bumpers: The good news is you don’t even have to buy a bumper! The bad news is that if you’ve already got one you should find out if you can take it back. Bumpers have been deemed dangerous and can even contribute to SIDSdon’t waste your cash.
Organic Cotton: This eco-friendly option is a great way to save the environment at the same time you save cash. It’s often more affordable as regular cotton and it holds up longer, too, saving you money in the long run.
Pillows: Along the same lines as bumpers, you don’t need a pillow for the crib until your baby is able to turn over on its own. The good news is that you can make your own with a pillowcase – simply fill with old T-shirts or cotton balls and save.

Putting your nursery together can be one of the most stressful elements to having a child. As soon as you find out you are pregnant it is a good idea to immediately start with getting the nursery ready. Even if you don’t know the gender of the baby there are many things you can still do to help in getting the nursery ready. You can start by picking out the necessary furniture such as the crib and changing table and painting the room a gender neutral color. Also starting to stock up on supplies you will need in the nursery will save a lot of stress later on in your pregnancy. You will need diapers, wipes, shampoo, soap, baby powder and generic things like that can be purchased very early on in pregnancy and will save some much added stress down the line. It is also a good idea to wash and hang up or put away any clothes you receive during your pregnancy. It is never too early to start on your nursery and having it done before your bundle of joy arrives will save you a lot of stress during the first few days when you are bonding with your baby.

One of the best parts of finding out that you are going to have a baby is the fact that you will be able to begin decorating the baby’s nursery. This is a very exciting time for both mom and dad so make sure that you get both parents to be part of the planning. Having both mom and dad give ideas for the room will nurture the bonding process.

If you are one of those parents who just can’t wait to find out if you are going to have a boy or a girl then you might not want to start decorating until you find out. On the other hand some parents want to have their nursery gender neutral as this room will be used by future babies, not just this one. Likewise, if you are going to hold out for the surprise of finding out the baby’s gender until he or she arrives.

Every nursery needs a chair for mom, a changing table and a few wall decorations. These are all things that you can find at a second hand store or even perhaps your basement. A can of spray paint and a roll of painters tape can go a long way towards making your baby’s nursery come to live. Stencils and rub ons will give you a much needed helping hand if you are not crafty.

Setting up a nursery for your child can be a grueling but fun process. It’s important to make the environment an enjoyable and positive kind of vibe so that your child can learn to love the place where he/she sleeps.

One tip to look at is the decor of the room. Do you want your kid to live in a world of a lot of color or maybe just one base color with an offset color to give it a different look? It doesn’t matter if the room doesn’t fit the decor your whole house because this is your child’s room.

Plan for longevity. Make sure that the room is big enough for when he/she becomes a teenager.

You’re going to be spending a lot of time with your child as far as feeding, helping your baby sleep, and more. Make sure you have a place for yourself in the room.

Also, make sure the room is safe. Make sure that big appliances are not in there or sockets too close to the crib to where it’s reachable by your baby.

It’s important that windows are in good position so that the light isn’t overbearing for your kid during sleep.

Sewing your baby’s bedding can be fun. It’s also a way to save money and add a personal flare to your baby’s room.

A normal bedding kit for baby includes a sheet, quilted blanket or comforter, bumpers and a bed skirt. Once you have decided on a particular theme for your baby’s room you can begin looking for a pattern and fabric. Don’t be afraid to use different patterns and different fabrics to mix and match. This way you can create a unique look that’s from the heart.

If you have a sewing machine but aren’t quite sure how to make any of the components included in baby bedding you can always ask one of the clerks at your local fabric store. Some stores even offer classes in sewing and they are relatively inexpensive. Give yourself some time and take one of these classes. You may find easier ways to do things that you would never have thought of on your own.

Follow the instructions on the pattern exactly as they are written to make your project as easy as possible. If you aren’t experienced in sewing make sure you look at the pattern difficulty levels. There are many patterns that are for beginning seamstresses and you may want to choose one of these. If you want to challenge yourself try the next level. Remember, you can always rip out a seam if you aren’t happy with it.Keep looking, there-s more: DIY: Handsewn Bird Mobile
